The University of Prizren Attendance Policy

Introduction

    The attendance policy aims to assist the University in order to enable students to achieve their learning potentials. We are aware of investing that students do either in financial aspect or in time one, in their choosing to continue university school. We as an institution believe that is our duty to monitor unauthorized absences in order to stimulate students to achieve success during their studies.

1. Preface

    1.1. This attendance policy addresses to the students with full-time status who will receive diploma of corresponding title after the end of their studies from department that they have chosen.

    1.2. The attendance policy can have other specifications of the same group of students who are employed with full –time schedule and that their employment is proved with the work contract in which there is mention time spent at work.

2. Students’ Attendance Requirements

    2.1. Attending lessons and exercises at the University is obliged. It has been required from the students to attend all the teaching activities required from the study course and to take responsibility of teaching process as well.

Attendance is obliged for these reasons:

  • To add educative development in study field
  • To take information about the program
  • To get prepared for all the assessment activities
  • To take practical work or group work

3. The schedule commitments

    3.1. The University schedule can include lectures and exercises in the morning, in the afternoon or in the evening. These activities are done in locations of Uni-Pz.

   3.2. Schedules are announced on the information table and/or on website. Students should be informed of any change following these changes continually.

    3.3. In case students notice any clash of teaching activities or exams, they are asked to inform the administration of it.

    3.4. Students should come and attend lessons on time. Late arrivals can cause disturbances to other students and to the teacher in the classroom as well.

4. Absences

   4.1. Students should inform the teacher or administrator of eventual absences during the lessons.

    4.2. Absences as cause of health should be covered with doctor’s certificate. Another reason is that student must not be absent more than one week and must tell the reason of his/her absence in written form.

    4.3. The programs’ leadership is responsible of providing the evidence maintenance from every teacher.

5. Actions for unauthorized absences

    5.1. For full-time students the two week absence one after another should be reported in administration and be showed the absence reason which will be examine later.

    5.2. Unexcused absences by the student’s side for longer period than two weeks may make the institution forbidden the student taking an exam and their final evaluation.

    5.3. Absence for a longer period of time that the above mentioned one which is excused by the student will be done with a warning and another option will be provided to student in order to continue his/her studies without any sanctions.

    5.4. If the student does not continually respect the attendance policies, it is possible to require him\her to interrupt his/her studies before the end of teaching cycle.

6. Complaints

    6.1. If student is required to interrupt his/her studies because of absences, he\she can make an appeal to the University leader to withdraw that decision.

    6.2. Decision on withdrawal from the teaching process will be taken on the basis of attendance evidence.

    6.3. If the student’s appeal is excused to continue the teaching process but on one condition that he/she will repeat all missed lectures and exercises.

    6.4. If the student’s appeal is categorically rejected by the Leadership, he/she will be required to leave the University.

    6.5. If that decision is taken, he/she does not have the right to ask for his/her money back.
